On Monday (Feb. 22) at approximately 9:45 p.m., Pearland Police were dispatched to the 9700 block of Fair Brook Way for a report of shots fired. The male homeowner advised police that an man had knocked on his door, and when he answered, the man was holding a rifle. The homeowner slammed the door and his wife called 9-1-1.
Three male suspects fled on foot, and several shots were fired by the suspects at the house and at the vehicles in the driveway.
Responding Pearland Police units spotted the suspects fleeing the area and initiated a high-risk stop on Brookside at Stone Rd.
The three suspects: Michael Mata, 22, Jillson Jose, 33 and Melvin Pratt, 35, were detained. A search of the vehicle revealed several .223 magazines as well as a small amount of marijuana. The rifle was not located in the vehicle.
Mata was charged with Deadly Conduct – Habitation Felony 3, Jose was charged with Possession of Marijuana and Deadly Conduct – Habitation Felony 3 and Pratt was charged with Deadly Conduct Felony 3.
Detectives searched the route the suspects took during daylight hours and located the rifle on Brookside Rd. At this time, the motive for the incident is unknown and the case is still under investigation.
