PenaValenzuelaOn Tuesday (April 26), a resident in the area of 2200 Cedar reported suspicious circumstances involving two males in a silver vehicle. The caller didn’t recognize the vehicle or the male driver and passenger and called police.

When Pearland officers arrived, the two males ran and began jumping fences to escape police. After a brief foot chase, both suspects were detained.

Officers recovered evidence and quickly learned that the pair had broken into a home in the 4900 block of Plum.

Officers identified the pair as Jarrod Pena, 18, and Xavier Valenzuela, 20. Both suspects were charged with Evading Arrest, a Class A Misdemeanor; and Burglary of a Habitation, a Second Degree Felony.

“This incident was a great example of citizens being involved in keeping their community safe,” said Assistant Chief of Police Johnny Spires.

To report suspicious activity, call the Pearland Police Department at (281) 997-4100. Call 911 to report crimes in progress.
