Pearland, Manvel Teens Arrested Following High-Speed Car Chase

Following a high-speed chase down SH 288, five suspects were arrested by Pearland Police Friday (Jan. 2). The driver was identified as Pearland-resident Andres Renie Guilliod-Olaizola, 18, (picturd at far left) who was arrested on felony charges of evading arrest. After a brief investigation at the scene, the four passengers were arrested on misdemeanor public intoxication charges. Following a high-speed car chase down State Highway 288, a Pearland teen was arrested for evading arrest and his four passengers were arrested for public intoxication Friday (Jan. 2).

According to Pearland Police reports, around 3:35 a.m. an officer spotted a red Hyundai speeding in the southbound lane and attempted to conduct a traffic stop in the 17000 block of SH 288.

However instead of pulling over, the driver sped up and tried to elude the officer, going at speeds of up to 90 to 100 miles per hour for almost five miles. After exit the freeway and re-entering, the vehicle took the exit for County Road 58. The pursuit continued on several county roads until finally ending at the dead end of County Road 174A where the police officials said the driver was unable to negotiate a turn onto a service driveway and got stuck in the wet grass.

The driver was identified as Pearland-resident Andres Renie Guilliod-Olaizola, 18, who was arrested on felony charges of evading arrest. After a brief investigation at the scene, the four passengers were arrested on misdemeanor public intoxication charges.

The passengers were identified as Manvel-residents Theodore Max Carbajal, 19, and Joel Alexander Carbajal, 17, Rosharon-resident Jhovany Acosta, 18, and 21 year-old Jesus Adrian Handad-Mendoza from the Pearland-area.

The four passenger suspects were jailed and later released. Guilliod-Oaizola remains in custody at the Brazoria County Sheriff Department Jail on a $50,000 bond.
