Pearland-resident Elijah Alexander Hoyt, 20, was arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance Wednesday (Feb. 26).

A Pearland man was recently jailed on felony drug-possession charges after police allegedly found a baby bottle filled with codeine in his car.

According to Pearland Police reports, a patrol officer noticed a car turn into the wrong lane from Cullen Blvd. onto Broadway around 3:20 a.m. Wednesday (Feb. 26). The officer initiated a traffic stop but the driver reportedly turned into a parking lot, drove around a building and through a drive-through before stopping for the officer.

The driver, Elijah Alexander Hoyt, 20, was arrested following an investigation at the scene when a search of his car allegedly uncovered a baby bottle filled with a liquid that tested positive for codeine.

Hoyt was taken to the Pearland Jail where he remains in custody on a $10,000 bond. A Brazoria County Grand Jury is expected to review the case in the coming weeks.
